Kristen Carlson, Past President of the Rotary Club of Galveston (center) displays the special tribute she received on behalf of her Club at the recent 100th Anniversary Celebration of the Bay Area Council, Boy Scouts of America held recently at Moody Gardens.
For over four decades, The Rotary Club of Galveston has hosted its annual Chili Supper fundraiser, and this year's event took place November 6th, and again held in the Ball High School Cafeteria.
Oh what a night! Thanks to all who participated in one way or another. We really came together as a club as always and operated as a well oiled machine. There are obviously too many people to thank but I really appreciate everyone stepping up to make running this event a breeze. From my sub chairs to the folks that came early and stayed until the end (and one person that even attempted to work at every station from greeting to serving), you always have my back and for that I am grateful.
We served a boatload of chili and ran out of tamales and if Ruth wasn’t so darn good at what she does we might not have had leftover desserts.
Early tallies look like we will be very close to our $15,000 goal as a gift to the Foundation.
World Polio Day was October 24, 2019. Members of the Rotary Club of Galveston donated $1,500 in support of World Polio Day, October 24. Rotarian Mary Lou Hollender, who chaired the initiative for the club, is pictured with Club President, Jim Byrom.
